It is always amazing how much money one can spend on destroying one’s own property and even worse paying other people to do it well. This is one of our sites which is currently live and where we just started to create the new roof with an open ceiling all the way to the ridge, with exposed steel beams, with lots and lots of natural light through new skylights and enlarged dormers, and an all optimised room layout.

Riverford mince pies

A Christmas without mince pies is not Christmas at all! Our favourites are the ones from Riverford – they are absolutely gorgeous. Like everything else Riverford offer (think vegboxes and incredible brownies), they are organic and delivered to your door. We even saw Riverford’s name near ours on the Figaro Digital Marketing Conference attendee list from November but didn’t end up bumping into each other.

Animated GIFs – no more naff spinning logos

When websites changed in the late 90s from rigid lists of words and images to jumping balls, morphing globes and spinning logos, animated GIFs were a hot property which with very little memory demands allowed all sorts of moving things. Not always to the better as not everything was meant to be moving. Nowadays Flash has taken over for most animation purposes and soon html5 will do this all over again. Some people might contest this outlook but what is certain is that animated GIFs have developed into their own art form. And while I find animated GIFs of even my own children much more interesting than a 20 minute long video, Jamie Beck and Kevin Burg have taken the animated GIF to a whole new level. Figaro Digital Marketing Conference

I went to the Figaro Digital Marketing Conference last Wednesday November 23rd and soaked up a full day’s worth of information and inspiration. Videos of the talks are available here (look for the event in the right column). The biggest finding? Not a huge surprise but: the future is mobile!

Edding Wall of Fame

It is your best friend when it comes to improving public toilets, walls, shoes, clothes or even your body (although that’s not the healthiest thing to do) by adding a quick comment, doodle or whatever you want. It is the gaffer tape of pens – the Edding marker.

But because the world is getting more and more digital, there had to be a way to transform the advantages of the famous marker pen onto the computer screen without ruining it. So the people from Edding came up with a wonderful idea: a digital, never-ending wall, which you will find at wall-of-fame.com.

The results reach from very simple, childlike doodles to amazing drawings. And if scrolling along the virtual wall inspires you, go on and add something to it!

Is this green?

At first glance this photo looks green – in the sense of environmentally-friendly, that is – but upon closer inspection it is anything but. It’s the perfect representation of why we are so proud and happy (yes, like new parents) to have created the name, brand promise and visual identity for Floreon, a compostable and recyclable biopolymer. Floreon is a renewable, low-energy PLA blend which we hope will soon replace PET, today used ubiquitously for drinks bottles and many other applications.
